Here are the top stories today in Duluth:
- The Gwinnett school board is going to send two redistricting map options to our county's legislative delegation. The school board voted unanimously on Thursday night to send two possible redistricting maps to the delegation, kicking off a period of soliciting public feedback from residents and consideration from legislators before Georgia's 2022 legislative session begins. - The City of Lilburn is set to install two new stop signs around Lilburn School Road and Pop Johnson Road. This area is frequently used by pedestrians and children who attend Lilburn Middle School. The new stop signs are in an effort to make the intersection safer and more accessible to these pedestrians. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Gwinnett County Public Schools has officially unveiled its academic calendar for the 2022-2023 school year. The district unveiled the calendar for the next school year on Thursday. It shows that kindergartners, first-, sixth- and ninth-graders will be in the classroom when the school year begins on Aug. 3, 2022. All other students will begin the school year online that day, but then head to school for in-person instruction starting the following day. There will also be four digital learning days, with three of which will take place on Fridays (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
- Gwinnett County is offering some navigators to help the public find needed community resources. Community navigators, who have been called upon by the County, are part of a program called OneStop 4 HELP and can be contacted by phone at 770-822-8850, by email at OneStopHelp@GwinnettCounty.com and soon in-person at any of Gwinnett County's OneStop facilities in Norcross, Buford and Centerville. - Georgia Gwinnett College is celebrating its new Gwinnett Entrepreneur Center. Officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony on December 15 for the new Gwinnett Entrepreneur Center. In partnership with GGC, the Gwinnett County-sponsored center supports entrepreneurs and nurtures small business startups. (On Common Ground News)
