Gwinnett CID to Receive Grant for Intersection Improvements

Intersection improvements in the Gwinnett Place area will receive funding, the state announced Wednesday.

Gov. Nathan Deal announced the approval on Wednesday in a press release from the State Road and Tollway Authority.

The grant award is part of 20 transportation infrastructure projects totaling $33 million in grants and loans that were approved by Deal. 

The funding will be provided by the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank. 

Administered by the State Road and Tollway Authority, the Bank is a revolving infrastructure investment fund established in 2008 by the Georgia General Assembly. 

Community improvement districts, as well as local and state government entities are eligible for GTIB grant and loan funding. Final approval is made by the SRTA Board, which is chaired by the governor.

The Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District will receive $411,693 to be used at intersections at Pleasant Hill Road, Venture Drive and Gwinnett Place Drive near Duluth.

According to the press release, the project will improve mobility access routes at Venture Drive through the Mall Corners area to Gwinnett Place Drive.

The press release also stated:

“The improvements will allow for safer ingress and egress and improved vehicular mobility, safety and connectivity within the Gwinnett Place retail district. In addition, other planned improvements at the intersection of Venture Drive and Day Drive will improve sight distance, safety and level of service.”
