Morning, people of Duluth! Kayla Harrison here with the latest copy of the Duluth Daily.

First, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 45 Low: 35.

Here are the top three stories in Duluth today:

  1. A man was indicted in Gwinnett County for trafficking of persons for sexual servitude. The man, Demonte Engle, will be given life in prison if convicted. He is just one of 51 people the Attorney General's Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit has investigated for trafficking in 2021 and the beginning of 2022. (CBS46 News Atlanta)
  2. Gwinnett arts organizations have big plans for 2022 that include offerings for audiences, exciting stage productions, and art events. They are especially looking forward to the Aurora Theatre hosting 'Cinderella' the musical in Spring 2022. The city of Suwanee will also be having the SculpTour, an outdoor sculpture exhibit at the end of April. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  3. Duluth police shared a cautionary tale about celebratory gunfire. A bullet was fired on New Year's and was lodged in a vehicle parked in a subdivision. Police report that celebratory gunfire could lead to jail time and a psychological evaluation. (FOX 5 Atlanta)

  • Comedy on the Clay! Hosted by Yoshee - Red Clay Music Foundry (8:00 PM)

From my notebook:

  • The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office has received multiple reports from citizens who have fallen victim to scammers pretending to represent the Sheriff's Office. The callers state that the call is in regards to the victim being wanted for missing jury duty and they must pay to avoid being arrested. The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office will never reach out to wanted persons to seek money in lieu of physical arrest. (Facebook)
  • Don't let being homebound keep you from your favorite printed materials. Receive library books mailed straight to your home for no additional cost with the Gwinnett County Public Library. To get started, visit the link in their bio. (Instagram)
