- Georgia Gwinnett College is gearing up to host two vaccine clinics during the rest of December. - The North Gwinnett County food co-op has gotten some holiday help from a local Chick-Fil-A. The co-op said it normally serve around 300 families every week. Before the pandemic, the group was able to distribute 171,000 pounds of food to families in need. In 2020, it said that number grew to 546,000 pounds. Brad Williams, who owns and operates the two Chick-fil-A locations in north Gwinnett County that are helping out, said he has teams that are capable of getting food to where it needs to be quickly and efficiently. Williams is teaming up with the co-op to help feed 5,000 people. The co-op says that for anyone else that is looking to donate, the cost is $10. That donation will include fruits and vegetables that will be distributed beginning Dec. 17. 20% of those donations will also help provide the co-op funding to keep it running. (WSB Atlanta)
- A Paulding County man was arrested this past weekend for the murder of a missing Gwinnett County man. 54-year-old Ronald Williams was reported missing by his family on November 28. By using the GPS feature on his phone, investigators were able to determine that Williams' phone and vehicle were both last seen in Paulding County. The location of the items were in the yard of Wesley Richard Brock. When the investigators interviewed Brock, he confessed to them that he shot and killed Williams and disposed of his body in the area of Williams Road in Paulding County. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Paulding County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Tip Line at (770) 443-3047 or send a message via the Paulding Sheriff mobile app.(WSB Atlanta)
- A truck driver from Gwinnett County was arrested in Pennsylvania last week in connection with a road rage murder that happened in West Virginia. The Berkeley County Sheriff's Department said Harold Rue is accused of shooting Reynaldo Gonzalez Mediavilla on the side of Interstate 81 early on Tuesday morning. Mr. Rue is currently facing one count of murder, but the sheriff's office said he could face additional criminal charges after he is extradited from Pennsylvania. The Berkeley County Sheriff's Department is asking for anyone who has additional information about the shooting to call its Criminal Investigations Division at 304-267-7000.(Gwinnettdailypost.com)
