  1. Yoon-mi Hampton is now the first Black councilwoman in Lilburn. She also became the first person of Asian decent in Gwinnett County to hold her position. Her hope is that in the future there will not be as much importance around her race, but rather she wishes to have her platform to be of upmost importance to her constituents.   2. A 70-year-old man with dementia who just moved into the county and has no cell phone was considered a missing person in Gwinnett County Wednesday afternoon. After some tips to the non-emergency police line, the man was found safe in the early hours of Thursday morning. (WSB Atlanta)
  3. 38 seniors from two Duluth high schools have been named among the 16,000 National Merit Scholar semifinalists. Students can be considered semifinalists if their score on the PSAT was in the top 1% of the state. The names of the finalists for the program will be announced in February. (Duluth Patch)
  4. Some Gwinnett County residents are raising concerns over damaged and weed-infested storm drains causing run-offs. They say that the concrete in most storm drains is caving in, many are overgrown with weeds, and sometime are even covered by litter. The residents are claiming it is a danger to society to not fix this issue before the beginning of autumn. (CBS46 News Atlanta)
  5. Snellville officers have located and arrested the man accused of being involved in a kidnapping and a home invasion in Gwinnett County. The man was also arrested for being in possession of an illegal firearm, and is now in the county prison without bond. (CBS46 News Atlanta)
