Man Caught On Camera Buying Flowers After Van Theft: WATCH

DULUTH, GA — A Duluth man's gym locker was robbed of his keys and credit cards. His van was then stolen and his card was used to buy flowers, police say.

The GCPD Motor Vehicle Theft Unit needs the public’s help in locating a stolen minivan and identifying a man who may be responsible for the crime. On Sunday, March 4, at around 1:30 p.m., a Duluth resident visited his local gym at 1625 Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth. While inside the gym, an unknown person broke into his secured locker and stole his belongings. Among the items stolen were the keys to his black minivan. The vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot by the time the van owner went outside.

Shortly after the theft, the victim began to receive alerts that his stolen credit cards had been used to make fraudulent purchases at a few local grocery stores. The responding officers visited one of the grocery stores and obtained surveillance footage of a man using one of the victim’s stolen credit cards. In the video, a man is seen approaching the self-service machines with a bouquet of yellow flowers. After he scans the flowers, he scans several gift cards. The unidentified man used the victim’s credit card to charge nearly $500.

The black 2016 Kia Sedona is still listed as stolen nine days after the initial theft. The license plate on the back of the vehicle should display RZZ1150.
