Here are the top stories today in Duluth:
- A new 68-acre park that will be near Gwinnett Place Mall is now in development. The park, named Beaver Ruin Wetlands Park, will feature a playground, wildlife observation tower, trails, boardwalks and small shelters. The park is expected to open in 2024. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Gwinnett County school district has hired some new principals and a new assistant superintendent. Jordan Middle School Principal, Melissa E. Walker, was promoted to the role of assistant superintendent for elementary schools in the district. The district has an also hired new principals at three elementary schools. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Duluth Police are searching for a missing 24-year-old man who has autism. Young Kwang Eom was last seen between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday in Town Green, running towards the Courtyard by Marriott, where his family lost sight of him. Police said Eom understands English but is not very verbal. Reach out to local police if you have seen him. (CBS46 News Atlanta)
- Peachtree Corners Councilman, Eric Christ, recently participated in the Atlanta Regional Commission's Regional Leadership Institute program's (ARC) Regional Leadership Institute. Peachtree Corners officials said the week-long Regional Leadership Institute brings leaders from across the ARC's 11-county footprint together to learn how the issues facing the region intersect with each other, as well as how to build a regional approach to address those issues. - A person has been found dead on Friday after and incident in Norcross. According to a tweet, the person was hit by a driver, who drove away. However, local police have not confirmed that information. Police are investigating this case closely, and there are no further details. (CBS46 News Atlanta)
