One Victim In Duluth Double-Homicide Identified

Gwinnett Police say Charles Tyree, 40, had been invited to the home of the man who would go on to shoot and kill him.

DULUTH, GA — One of the two men shot and killed at a social gathering in Duluth on Sunday has been identified by police.

Charles Tyree, 40, and another man were shot by Davon Dayron Jones, 24, of Duluth, after Jones invited them over to the house where he was staying, Gwinnett County Police say.

Police have not publicly identified the other victim, saying his family has not been notified yet.

Jones has been arrested and faces two counts each of felony murder and aggravated assault.

The shooting happened shortly after 8 p.m. on the 2100 block of Hopkins Mill Lane.

A 911 caller said two men had been shot inside a home there. Upon arriving, Gwinnett County Police officers located one man who was dead from a gunshot wound and another man who was injured.

The second victim was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he later died from his injuries.

According to police, the victims were friends of Jones and had been invited over to the home earlier in the day.
