🌱 Poll Workers Needed + Crack Down on School Board Threats

Happy Friday, people of Duluth! Here's everything you need to know to start today off on an informed note. Here's what's happening around town today.


First, today's weather:

Here are the top stories today in Duluth:

  1. An official warning has been issued after some threatening social media posts have been directed towards the members of the Gwinnett County Board of Education. Going forward, anyone who makes a threat against any member of the GCPS school board will receive a minimum fine of $1,000 and 12 months confinement. If the threat is racist in nature, more time and money is involved. Police have already arrested 5 people. (CBS46 News Atlanta)
  2. Local authorities are currently looking for a 16-year-old girl who ran away from Division of Family and Children Services personnel in Buford on Monday. Ella Wood ran away just after midnight Monday in the area of Bristol Industrial Way, and law enforcement said they believe she is in the Atlantic Station area of Atlanta. (Gainesville Times)
  3. The general public is once again invited to provide input on the future of our beloved Gwinnett Place Mall. To provide your input, head over to Reclaimgwinnettplacemall.com. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  4. Aurora Theater is hosting its annual ghost tour experience with live actors in Lawrenceville. The nearby city is considered to be the oldest in metro Atlanta. This is the last week you will be able to go, so hurry on over if you are in need of some fright this week! (WABE 90.1 FM)
  5. Some hiring events have been scheduled for Gwinnett residents that are interested in working and running the voter polls. You must be 16 years of age, can read and write, and you must live in Gwinnett or one of the neighboring counties to participate. Those chosen will be provided with a $350 stipend.
