I wanted to let my constituents know that I will not be a the council meeting on Monday 13 January. I'll be in DC at the Transportation Research Board conference (part of the National Academy of the Sciences). Attended my first meeting in 1975 and have only missed 3 along the way - one when my Mom died, one when my younger son was born and once when DC was socked in with a blizzard for a week. I will be there among 13,000 other transportation professionals learning/teaching, planning and networking so I am current on many aspects of the profession. (www.trb.org) I look forward to seeing many of you at the January work session.
Also, please note on your calendar that the State of the City address is being delivered on 10 February at the conclusion of our regular meeting. I'll be sworn in for my third term at that meeting and we'll be presenting some awards.
