🌱 Vaccine Clinics + Food Panty For The Holidays
The quickest way to get caught up on what's happening today in Duluth.

Happy Wednesday, neighbors!
Before we begin, Patch would like to apologize for a poor choice of wording in yesterday's newsletter. When writing on the death of a 69-year-old Lawrenceville woman who was struck by a vehicle, the summary's wording insinuated that the tragedy was innocent or without malice. What was intended to be said with such language was the innocence of the victim — that she was an innocent person. Please know the article has been re-worded and we apologize again. No disrespect was intended for the victim or her family.
And now, here is everything you need to know about what's happening in Duluth today.
First, today's weather:
Sunny and pleasant. High: 71 Low: 48.
Here are the top stories today in Duluth:
- The staff of the Gwinnett County medical examiner's office has brought an issue to the table this week. They are saying that their workplace is a toxic environment, and several staff members are admitting to being forced to work for free more than once. The final straw for them was having to watch one of their colleagues be fired over a Zoom meeting while she had COVID symptoms. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Gwinnett Police are partnering with Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church Food Pantry to have a food drive in hopes to feed hundreds of Gwinnett residents this holiday season. Locals are encouraged to drop off donations through Monday, December 13 at seven locations around the county. Recommended items to donate include any type of canned proteins, canned chili, pasta and soup, peanut butter, cereal, canned fruit and vegetables, bottled condiments, cooking oil, baby wipes and toilet paper. All are welcome to come to the food pantry, as there are no income requirements. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Three very busy Gwinnett County intersections will be redone soon to help relieve traffic in these areas. The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners recently approved a rapid response construction project on November 5 that includes extending the left turn lane on Sugarloaf Parkway at Duluth Highway, the west left turn lane on Old Norcross Road at U.S. Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, and the west left turn lane on Old Norcross Road at Cruse Road. The objective of all of these projects is to improve safety and mobility. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- On Monday, a Gwinnett County deputy crashed into a utility pole after a wreck with another vehicle. The incident took place on Highway 20 and Swanson Drive shortly after 3:30 p.m. The deputy is in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (WSBTV)
- There are a few upcoming Gwinnett County COVID-19 vaccination clinics hosted by GCPS in November and December. The clinics will be held at various high schools around the county, and there is no appointment required. (WSBTV)
