The wedding in Duluth was planned as a traditional American wedding. Debbie is wearing a formal white gown with antique beading. Soeren a black tux. Flowers and catering, including the wedding cakes, are being done by Debbie's aunt, A Bokay by JoAnn. "I will not be making the cakes due to the amount of cakes I have to finish for everyone else," Debbie said.
After arriving in the United States, Soeren interned at the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern United States and later became the chamber's director of membership and finance. He now does international insurance for The McCart Group.

Soeren proposed to Debbie at the German American Gala this past Saturday (Nov. 5) at the St. Regis Hotel in Atlanta.
"He brought over a bag and said he had something for us," Debbie said. "I thought he had bought it in the silent auction. He opened the bag and brought out a black box, opened it and got down on one knee and proposed. In between choking back tears, I said Yes!"
"We walked around the rest of the evening with Soeren introducing me to all of our friends and associates as his fiancée. Later that evening we discussed making a memorable wedding on a memorable day...11-11-11 at 11 a.m. Why not? Amazingly, a formal wedding can be planned in six days!"
