Dunwoody Woman Hit By Multiple Vehicles on I-285: Police

Police say Gayla Joyce Walker was found Thursday morning along the interstate near Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.

Police say a Dunwoody woman was the victim in a fatal accident involving a pedestrian who was killed along Interstate 285 in Sandy Springs just before daybreak Thursday.

Gayla Joyce Walker, 53, of Dunwoody was discovered around 6 a.m. Jan. 22 on the westbound side of the interstate near Roswell Road, said Sandy Springs police spokesperson Sgt. Ron Momon.

Momon said authorities were initially told a possible animal blocked two or three lanes of the interstate.

Officers arrived at the scene and discovered the form was a human body ”that apparently was struck by several vehicles” and was unrecognizable to motorists.

“Investigators have determined that the victim walked onto the interstate and was struck by a large vehicle, as determined by the skid marks,” Momon added.
