⢠Monroe County Jail considers expansion as inmate population exceeds capacity (41nbc.com) ā Forsyth and Monroe County leaders are weighing a Monroe County Jail expansion as the inmate population regularly exceeds its roughly 175-bed capacity, forcing costly transfers to other jails. Plans being discussed include a new cell block, additional holding cells, and more dedicated space for inmates with mental health needs, with hopes to move forward within the next couple of years.

Visit Forsyth gathered hundreds of new contacts, and a local fishing guide is already seeing strong interest from families who met him during the tournament.

⢠āMerciless:' Man sentenced for killing roommate at Woodstock sober living facility (wsbtv.com) ā A man from Forsyth in Monroe County has been sentenced to life in prison, with possible parole after 30 years, for fatally stabbing his roommate at a Woodstock sober living apartment. Prosecutors described the attack as deliberate, while the defense cited mental health issues; the judge also ordered treatment and barred him from Cherokee County.
