• Piedmont Macon honors community hero helping breast cancer patients Piedmont Macon community hero Jo Turner helps breast cancer patients (41nbc.com) — A Forsyth woman is being celebrated for quietly helping thousands of breast cancer patients across Middle Georgia. Jo Turner, inspired by her own surgery, has sewn more than 5,500 special pouches that make living with post-surgery drains easier, earning Piedmont Macon’s Community Hero Award and a $500 donation to direct to a charity she chooses.
• Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation awards $165,000 to 18 historic sites (wsbtv.com) — Forsyth’s own Monroe County Historical Society is receiving a $5,000 preservation grant to support work at the historic Train Depot Complex downtown. The award is part of $165,000 in Georgia Trust grants helping restore museums, churches, schools, and other landmarks across the state, highlighting Forsyth’s place in Georgia’s broader preservation efforts.
