• Taxi drivers targeted in Gainesville robbery spree (fox5atlanta.com) — Gainesville police say a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a string of robberies targeting taxi drivers at a local apartment complex, where he allegedly skipped fares and stole cash before fleeing on foot. He currently faces robbery and theft-of-services charges as investigators work to identify the specific complex, tally the total losses, and determine whether more charges are coming.
   

• Longtime NGHS surgeon retires (wgtjradio.com subscription) — Patients and staff in Gainesville are saying goodbye to Dr. Casey Graybeal, a longtime surgeon at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville who has retired after nearly three decades of caring for complex esophageal conditions. Colleagues credit him with building a patient-centered Heartburn & Swallowing Center that emphasized personalized treatment, clear communication, and lasting improvements in quality of life for the community.
   

• 8 BUI arrests reported in Georgia over Labor Day weekend (fox5atlanta.com) — Boaters on Lake Lanier near Gainesville saw an active Labor Day weekend, with five boating-under-the-influence arrests in the Gainesville region and two serious incidents but no injuries or drownings reported. Game wardens say one pontoon ran aground near Port Royal Marina and another boater hit a cabin cruiser at LandShark Cove, with both operators arrested on BUI charges.
