The probe follows delayed public-records responses and internal audits that flagged dozens of "anomalous" searches, though officials stress that anomalies and an investigation do not necessarily mean misconduct occurred.
   

• Four arrests in HCSO undercover child sex investigation (wgtjradio.com) — Hall County investigators recently ran an undercover operation targeting people they believed were seeking sex with minors, leading to four arrests across south Hall County, including one man from Gainesville. Officials say the suspects allegedly offered money for encounters with people they thought were juveniles, who were actually investigators, and all were taken into custody without incident.
   

• Local Food and Shelter Programs to Receive Help from Federal Funds (wnegradio.com) — Nonprofits and government agencies that help provide food or shelter can apply now for new federal funds being distributed in Stephens County, with requests handled through Ninth District Opportunity's Gainesville office. Eligible groups must meet basic accounting, nondiscrimination, and governance standards, and have their materials submitted by the early September deadline to be considered.
