Johnson is chasing its first 2-0 start since 2009, leaning on quarterback Shamari King’s comeback from injury as they test themselves against a physical South Effingham squad.
   

• In loving memory of Doreen Whitlock: 1936-2026 (chronline.com) — Guyton readers may recognize the Whitlock family name, as Doreen Whitlock’s daughter Robin Kover now lives here in Guyton. Doreen’s long life of service in Washington and California, especially with Girl Scouts and veterans groups, will be honored at a memorial in Chehalis this September.
   

• Debra "Debbie" Mueller July 24, 1959 - August 23, 2026 (familiesfirstcare.com) — Guyton is mourning the loss of Debra “Debbie” Mueller, who passed away Sunday at her home in town surrounded by family. Her husband Gary and son Christopher, both of Guyton, invite friends to a Saturday celebration of her life in Savannah, honoring her warmth, strength, and the memories she leaves behind.
