Charter Band Excels in Competition
Now in its fifth year, Cherokee Charter Academy (K-8) is the county's only public charter school.

Cherokee Charter Academy's 7th & 8th Grade Advanced Band competed at the District 9 Large Group Performance Evaluation at Union County High School in Blairsville. Musicians at LGPE are scored on how well they perform & sound and their sight reading ability. The CCA Band performed Andalucia by Victor Lopez, Maesong by William Owens, and Voodoo Dance by Del Borgo. CCA Band Director Matthew Tatz said the students earned 2 scores of 2s (Excellent) and 2 scores of 3s (Good) and were deemed by the judges as "a very disciplined and mature group." It was the first time many of the CCA musicians had participated in LGPE. Mr. Tatz added, "I look forward to see what we can do next year, and how much we improve. "
