Charter Geography Champ Eyes State Competition

Cherokee Charter Academy students in grades 4 through 8 competed in the school's annual geography bee.

Eighth grader Reagan Sparkman is the winner of Cherokee Charter Academy’s Geography Bee. After taking the school crown, Reagan took the qualifying exam in hopes of advancing to the state geography competition. She finds out March 4th if she qualifies. The winner of the state meet can go to the National Geography Bee in the nation’s capital in the spring. The national winner gets a $50,000 college scholarship. Reagan says, “I would love to go all the way to Nationals and win. I want to study astronomy and that would go a long way towards paying for some of that.”
