Charter's Top Teachers Honored

These revered educators were nominated by Cherokee Charter Academy parents.

At the end of each school year, the PTC at Cherokee Charter Academy (K-8) presents the Serrano-Williams Award to one elementary and one middle school teacher who have gone above and beyond in their role as an educator. They are nominated by CCA parents.

The 2015-16 honorees:

Rachel Dunlap – Kindergarten

This was Ms. Dunlap’s first year teaching at Cherokee Charter.

Among the parent citations: “She galvanizes our moral values and exceeds our educational expectations daily”…”treats students with respect, they really have a voice in her class”…”pours her heart into the class through voices in the stories.”

Melissa Dallas – 8th Grade

Ms. Dallas was a 7th grade teacher last year, moving up to 8th with her students.

Parents praise her, saying ”she treats everyone equally and stands up for those not easily noticed”…”roots for the kids who are struggling and cheers them on when they are doing well”…”she's THAT teacher, 25-30 years from now, students will still remember her as one of their favorites and one who influenced them in a positive way. “
