Cherokee Charter Academy Launches STARBASE

The only public charter school in Cherokee County is one of only 5 schools in Georgia with this premier educational program.

Fourth & Fifth grade students will launch rockets, design space stations & rovers, operate drones and investigate CAD design and 3-D printing as part of a special new program at Cherokee Charter Academy. It’s called STARBASE 1.5 and is sponsored by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs and is a partnership with Dobbins ARB and Peach State STARBASE. It is a unique opportunity for chosen students to explore potential careers and observe STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) applications in the real world. CCA teachers attended a Teacher Institute at Dobbins this summer to prepare for the program and learn more about aerospace engineering. Students are excited that the program includes a field trip to the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics facility in Marietta.
