Cherokee Charter Academy Teacher to Advise Governor
Governor Nathan Deal announced the creation of a statewide Teacher Advisory Committee, to include Cherokee Charter Academy's Lilly McFalls.

According to the governor’s office, CCA's Lilly McFalls and the other members of the Teacher Advisory Committee “will review recommendations from the 2015 Education Reform Commission in order to provide feedback and guidance to Deal, legislators and policy-makers.”
The governor says, “Georgia’s teachers educate, train, mentor and encourage our children each and every day, and they are dedicated to providing a quality education and shaping the minds of Georgia’s future leaders. Their experience in the classroom will help guide our efforts as we seek to improve educational outcomes for students, retain the best and brightest teachers and address critical needs in Georgia’s K-12 system.”
The Teacher Advisory Committee is chaired by Rep. Amy Carter, a practicing teacher in Lowndes County, and is comprised of 90 educators throughout the state.

Lilly McFalls is one of two teachers at public charter schools that were chosen for the committee. She teaches history and just finished her fourth year at Cherokee Charter Academy in Canton. McFalls has a Masters degree in Early Education from the University of Southern California and has a Gifted Endorsement. She says, “I am honored to be a part of this committee and I look forward to working with other teachers in the state.”
The governor’s office says the Teacher Advisory Committee will participate in meetings, conference calls and webinars throughout the summer and early fall and provide feedback following each discussion.
