Driver Clocked At 119 MPH On I-575 In Holly Springs

Police say officers are consistently seeing speeds in the triple digits on Interstate 575 north and south.

HOLLY SPRINGS — Police are urging drivers to slow down on Interstate 575 after an officer clocked someone driving at 119 mph on the interstate.

Holly Springs Police said Wednesday officers are consistently seeing speeds in the triple digits on I-575 north and south.

"It is important to be mindful of the posted speed limits and adjust your speed accordingly, especially when weather conditions or traffic volume may impede your ability to safely maneuver the vehicle. By slowing down, you can reduce the risk of accidents or collisions and arrive safely at your destination," police said in a statement.

According to the Georgia Highway Safety Association, drivers cannot exceed 70 mph on rural and urban interstates. The speed on limit access roads is 65 mph.
