Fall Fabric Garland

In case the ghosts weren't quite your style, this garland is simple and easy to make.

I love to decorate my home for the changing seasons, but I can't spend a lot of money doing it. Repurposing and recycling materials has become a fun creative outlet for me.

This autumn garland is an easy and inexpensive way to make a big decorative statement.

Fabric scraps
8 foot section of clothesline
Pinking shears or fabric scissors

I used fabric scraps I already had at home along with an old clothesline. This frugal crafty mom could not be happier to welcome it back.

I used pinking shears to make my garland but it isn't necessary to buy them. Plain scissors will work. You can even rip the fabric into strips for a more country chic feel.

Instructions:

Cut fabric into strips approximately eight inches long by one inch wide. The number of strips you need will vary depending on how long and full you want your garland.

The pictures accompanying this article will help to illustrate how to tie the fabric onto the clothesline.

Fold a fabric piece in half and place it under the clothesline to make a letter "A,." Bring the two loose ends up and over the clothesline and pull them through the loop and pull tight.

Repeat this process until the garland is the desired length.

To make hanging loops fold the end of the line onto itself and tie with a fabric strip.

The fabric colors and prints for this project can be modified to make a garland for any season or event. A birthday banner or a decoration in a child's room would be adorable.

Use your imagination and let your creative juices flow. Please send us pictures of your creations we would love to see them.
