Four Residents Qualify For State House Seat
Four Cherokee County residents have tossed their hat into the ring to fill the Georgia House District 22 seat.

Four Cherokee County residents have formally declared their plans to run for the Georgia House District 22 seat.
Qualifying ended at noon on Wednesday for the Jan. 7, 2014, special election to fill the seat,Β which was vacated with the passing of State Rep. Calvin Hill (R-Hickory Flat).
The race includesΒ four RepublicanΒ contenders voters can choose from:
- Megan BielloΒ of Canton, a teacher at Creekview High School
- Nate CochranΒ of Free Home, an attorney
- Jeff Duncan of Ball Ground, director of business development
- Sam Moore of Ball Ground, business owner
House District 22 encompasses eastern Cherokee County, southwestern Forsyth County and parts of Milton in north Fulton County.Β
While the election will be nonpartisan, the party affiliation of each candidate will be listed on the ballot. If needed, a run-off election has been tentatively set for Tuesday,Β Feb. 4, 2014.

Residents who wish to cast ballots must be registered to vote by Monday, Dec. 9. Registration forms can be obtained at any county elections and voter registrationΒ office or from theΒ Secretary of Stateβs website.Β
