GEORGIA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SCOT TURNER PARTICIPATES IN COMMUNITY HELPERS PROGRAM

Students learn how government officials support their community

For the last two weeks, students have been learning about people in their community who perform jobs that make the community a safe, convenient, and comfortable place to live. Some examples of such community helpers include the local
sheriff or police officers, postal workers, grocery store managers or clerks, doctors, government officials, or landscapers.

On Tuesday, October 14th, the students at the Primrose School of Harmony on the Lakes were honored with a visit by State House Representative, Scot Turner. Mr. Turner spoke to the students in the Pre-Kindergarten class about his job and why it is important to the community. Mr. Turner also shared his love of literacy by reading one of their favorite books, “Pete the Cat and His four Groovy Buttons.”

“Children who develop an appreciation at an early age for community helpers grow into caring, generous adults who love their community and respect others,” said Sharon Shelton, Franchise Owner of Primrose School of Harmony on the Lakes. The community helpers segment of the curriculum is just one of many unique ways that is especially designed to help children
develop active minds, healthy bodies and happy hearts.”
