A passerby called 911 and stated the girl’s foot was pinned against the gas pedal, which caused the tires to continuously spin.
Cherokee County firefighters used the “jaws of life” to remove the driver from the vehicle, Cavender added.
The teenager was placed in an ambulance and transported to a life-flight helicopter located at the parking lot of Kroger on Cumming Highway at East Cherokee Drive. The driver had moderate injuries to her legs and face. She was transported by helicopter to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta in stable condition.
The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident, Cavender added.
