Along with the race for governor, state schools superintendent and a U.S. Senate seat, Woodstock and Towne Lake voters will also elect their next Cherokee County Commission chair. Residents will choose between incumbent Republican Buzz Ahrens and Independent challenger Carolyn Cosby.

While Holly Springs City Council members Kyle Whitaker of Ward 1 and Dee Phillips of Ward 2 are up for re-election and did qualify to run for office, no challengers stepped forward to run against the incumbents. Thus, the city will not hold an election for the two seats.

β€œSince the candidates are unopposed they are hereby declared duly elected to the respective offices mentioned above following the date on which the regular municipal election for City Council members was to have been held,” the city wrote on its website.

The runoff date for state and local general election is set for Dec. 2 while any federal runoff election would be held on Jan. 6, 2015.
