Sequoyah Honors Stadium Namesake

will honor Doe Kirkland, Joy Mabry, and Bobby Pope at a pre-game ceremony tonight before the Chiefs take on Rome High School.

Doe Kirkland was Sequoyahs first  principal.

Joy Mabry, a lifelong resident of Hickory Flat,  is the mother of the late Skip Pope for whom the school's football stadium is named.

Bobby Pope, Skip Pope’s son, was 6 years old when his father died in a fatal automobile accident 20 years ago.
