Sequoyah's 'Coach Z' Dies in Cumming

A former Sequoyah coach asked that donations be made for a scholarship in lieu of flowers.

Paul George Zarynoff, 76, of Cumming died onΒ August 6.

Funeral services will be heldΒ 2:30 pmΒ at

Zarynoff, known as "Coach Z” had over 48 years of football coaching experience including 11 years at Β

Zarynoff restarted theΒ MiltonΒ High SchoolΒ middle school football program and he started theΒ CentennialΒ High School middle school program and Pop Warner Football inΒ ForsythΒ County.

He has also coached youth football at Northeast High School,Β North DeKalb High School, the Atlanta Colts, andΒ

In 2007, he was inducted into the Southern Football League Hall of Fame in 2007, and he was inducted into the North Georgia Football League Hall of Fame in 2008.Β Β 

The NGFL is aΒ GeorgiaΒ middle schoolΒ football program comprised of 32 High Schools, inΒ Fulton, Cherokee, Cobb, andΒ DouglasΒ Counties.Β 

Zarynoff was predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret Zarynoff; and brother, Sergay George Zarynoff.

Zarynoff served in the US Army as an Intelligence Officer – receiving many medals and commendations to include Medal of Honor, Army and Navy Commendation, Bronze Star Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. After his active duty, he worked as a Litigation and Security Consultant until retirement. Β 

He is survived by his wife, Kay N. Allred ofΒ Cumming; son, George Paul Zarynoff ofΒ Atlanta; son, Mark and Peggy Zarynoff ofΒ Cumming; daughter, Donya and Tim Manoville ofΒ New Jersey; grandchildren, Zachary, Abigail, Claire, and Libby; and his Golden Retriever companion, Garrett.Β Β He also leaves behind many friends to include the Brethren of his Quaffers Group who played golf annually for over 30 years.Β 

At the Semi - Pro football level, he was head coach of the Atlanta Cowboys, Georgia Pride and Georgia Buccaneers.
