State Rep. Calvin Hill Dies After Leukemia Battle
The politician was diagnosed with the disease this summer.

State Rep. Calvin Hill (R-Hickory Flat) passed away on Wednesday after suffering from leukemia, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Hill was 66. In September friends of the Hickory Flat resident began an online drive to help him find a bone marrow donor.Β
Hill was elected in 2002 and diagnosed with the disease this summer.
HillΒ got his start in politics by serving as mayor of Ball Ground before tackling state politics, according to hisΒ website.
Along with serving as a foundingΒ member of Cherokee Bank's board of directors, Hill has also been served on the boards of theΒ YMCA, March of Dimes, United Way, The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce andΒ the Anna Crawford Childrenβs Center. He also was a member of the Rotary Club of Canton.
