82 Percent Believe Johns Creek Going In Right Direction: Survey

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The results of the 2017 City of Johns Creek Community Survey are now available for you to peruse, and show a majority of the residents are satisfied with how the city is operating.

Johns Creek commissioned a survey of its residents in the spring through the A.L. Burruss Institute of Public Service & Research at Kennesaw State University, who developed a survey instrument in conjunction with Johns Creek city staff.

While the overall results of the survey are positive, Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker indicated there is always room for improvement across the spectrum of city services.

“We are pleased that the overall results and trend lines from the previous community survey conducted in 2013 were not only positive, but on the rise,” said Mayor Mike Bodker. “However, we recognize that, regardless of the positive trend, the City Council and I will focus on the survey results and identify ways to continue to improve even further in all areas of service to our residents.”

The survey, the results of which can be viewed here, was designed to ascertain the opinions of Johns Creek residents on a number of issues related to city management and services, quality of life in the city, public trust and policies. The survey report provides details about the survey methodology, participants, and all survey statistics. Some of the results highlighted by the city include:

• Residents were asked where they felt the quality of life in Johns Creek was headed. The large majority -- 81.6 percent -- expressed that Johns Creek was headed in the right direction.
• Residents were asked to rate the Johns Creek community in several key areas, for example education, safety, jobs, etc. All factors were rated as “excellent” or “good” by at least half of the respondents.
• In addition to community development and public works, all residents were asked for their approval of the job being done by Johns Creek Police and Fire departments as well as 911 dispatchers. The vast majority “approved” or “strongly approved” of the job each department is doing.
• Residents were asked to rate the importance of issues for city government to consider on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being “not at all important” and 10 being “extremely important.” All issues were deemed to be important, with maintaining public safety (average rating = 9.2) and dealing with traffic and congestion (average rating = 8.5) rated as most important for city government to address. Traffic congestion remained as one of the top concerns from the previous survey.
• Residents were also asked to rate the approval of the city's elected officials. The majority of people agreed that the Mayor and City Council were responsive to the community, doing a good job of managing the city’s finances and making the best decisions for the city’s future.

The Burruss Institute conducted a dual frame wireless and landline telephone survey of 611 Johns Creek residents between April 5, 2015 and May 22, 2017. The random sample size of adults allowed for a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of ± 4 percent for the overall survey results. Reported subgroup analyses have a margin of error of approximately ± 10 percent. The average length of the interview was 12.8
minutes.
