A New Twist on Tex Mex: The Twisted Taco
Come on out and try the newest Tex Mex in town.
Just having returned from lunch at the Twisted Taco, I’m going to have to untwist my belt a little. When faced with a basket of great chips and tasty salsa like they have there, what little self control I have flies out the window.
Christian George, manager of the newly opened Johns Creek Twisted Taco, sixth in the Atlanta area, is glad to be working in this area where he grew up. He thinks this is a great part of town and is excited about bringing in a restaurant that serves families and singles alike.
George says that the thing he likes best about being the manager is ”the opportunity to make people happy. I want to change any bad experience into a good one for our customers.” I don’t know about everyone else, but I had a good experience there.

George knew from a boy that he loved cooking and was very interested in the restaurant business. That’s why immediately after high school he got a job in a well-respected Atlanta restaurant chain and by the time he was 19, was working as a manager there. After five years of restaurant work, he went to the University of Georgia for a business degree and then returned to the business he enjoys.
As evidenced by the name, tacos are the big deal at the Twisted Taco. I enjoyed a Carne Asada Taco (steak, onions, lime, cilantro and lettuce), yum, and a tilapia taco called the Baja. With 18 different tacos on the menu you’re sure to find one to tickle your taste buds.

The dessert menu sounded good as well, with key lime pie and peanut butter pie being two of the favorites, but I had no room to explore those options. The Johns Creek store sells more desserts than any of the others, probably due to the family crowds it attracts.
The Johns Creek Twisted Taco aims to be very welcoming to families, but later in the evening (after 10) the lights will go down and the music will go up. On Friday and Saturdays there will be a DJ after 10 p.m. They are currently trying to get their time and entertainment schedule in place and will have it firmed up soon. For now they are open until at least 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and until 11 on Saturdays (and probably later).
For the PGA tournament crowd this week, they will have live entertainment 7-10 p.m. and a DJ at 10 p.m. All entertainment will be happening on the roof with security present after 10 p.m.
Newly staffed with a lot of young servers, there is a small learning curve in evidence, but everyone who waited on our table on a busy Friday night definitely aimed to please.
Catering is offered and the restaurant can seat parties of up to 40 in the back, but it is not a private space. For more information, visit www.twistedtaco.com. Come on out to the Twisted Taco for what they like to call “The Ultimate Tex Mex Experience.”
The Twisted Taco is located at 9700 Medlock Bridge Road, Johns Creek, in the old Garrison’s location.
