Here are the top stories in Johns Creek today:

  1. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office identified the remains of a man found burned in the woods near Old Gordon and Collier Roads last December as 32-year-old Nicholas Williams. The examiner's office is investigating Williams' death as a homicide. Investigators believe Williams died from a gunshot wound and his remains were later burned. (11 Alive)
  2. New House Speaker Jon Burns is planning to raise Georgia's tax on tobacco products, since Georgia has the second lowest tobacco tax rate in the country. He is also opposed to full Medicaid expansion for the state's low-income residents. Since the Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010, Georgia is one of 11 states that have not expanded the insurance program under the Obama-era health care law. On Jan. 19, Burns said he wants to give Gov. Brian Kemp's more limited expansion plan, which will start in July, a chance. (WABE)
  3. Japanese equipment manufacturer, Mizuno, announced plans to open a new R&D Testing center and Tour-Fit Studio called "The Foundry" at The Standard Club in Johns Creek in late 2023.
