The commemoration also included remarks by Alpharetta police officer David Freeman, who was wounded in the line of duty in 2013, as well as remarks by Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker.

“Most of those responsible have either been captured or killed, the international community is taking a more proactive approach with taking the fight to extremists around the world, and both the World Trade Center complex in New York City and the pentagon have been repaired and are physically better than they have ever been,” Bodker said. “However, for the survivors and families and loved ones of those who were either killed or injured, the pain of this horrific day can never be repaired. And it is important that we do not forget those who were directly impacted by the events of 9/11, and nor should we forget the heroics of those who risked their lives for others.”

The annual event, coordinated by the Rotary Club of Johns Creek - North Fulton, featured songs by the Perimeter School chorus and helped raised money for the Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation.
