Republicans Kelly Leigh Stewart, Royce M. Reinecke and Bradford Jay Raffensperger, Libertarian Christine A. Austin and Paul Troop — who did not list a party affiliation — all qualified this week to fill the seat, which was vacated when Lynne Riley was tapped by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve as the state Department of Revenue commissioner.

While this is a nonpartisan special, each candidate’s party affiliation, if any, will be listed on the Jan. 6 ballot. A runoff, if needed, will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015.

Citizens who are not registered to vote and who desire to vote in the special election must register to vote before the close of business on Dec. 8, 2014. Voter registration forms can be obtained at the county registrar’s office or from the Secretary of State’s website.
