Fulton Elections Department Wins Civic Impact Award

ATLANTA, GA -- The Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections has been named a 2016 Civic Impact Awards winner by The Center for Civic Innovation.

The Civic Impact Awards celebrates the people who put in the time and energy day in and day out to change the lives of other people for the better.

“This recognition reflects the time and efforts of my department working to promote early voting and ensures that all voters are enfranchised,” states Richard L. Barron, director of Fulton county Registration and Elections. “We are honored to receive this award in the Innovation in Government Category.”

The Innovation in Government Award is for an agency at the city, county, region or state level that broke through the status quo and tried something new or different in effort to make government more innovative, effective, and/or participatory.

"I am so proud of our election team," Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves said. "We saw record turnout at our 24 early voting locations, the most in the state of Georgia. And we congratulate the team on their award and kudos to all who made the 2016 election such a success."

The second annual Civic Impact Awards were given out at a ceremony held Dec. 8 to celebrate the people who put in the time and energy day in and day out to change the lives of other people for the better.
