Hooch’s Diaz Commits to Kennesaw State Track and Field team
In addition to holding two school track records, Diaz also played football and earned the rank of Eagle Scout

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – Chattahoochee High School's Omar Diaz has signed a National Letter of Intent to be part of the NCAA DI Kennesaw State track and field team. A four-year varsity member of Chattahoochee’s track and field team and a two-year varsity football player, Diaz Is the 2017 GHSA 6A State Track and Field Championships first-place winner in the 100m sprint, where he set a personal record of 10.58. He was also part of the first-place 4x100 relay and came in third in the 200m.
For the last two years at the Region 6A Championships, Diaz placed first in 100m, 200m and the 4x100 relay. This year, Hooch won the first-place men’s team trophy, a first in school history. Diaz currently holds Chattahoochee's 200m men’s record (21.62) and participated in the 4x100 relay team record (41.44)
Diaz’s honors through the years include being named Most Valuable Sprinter three times and winning the Coach’s Award as well as football’s Freshmen Leadership Award.

As a senior, Diaz reached the prestigious Eagle Scout rank. His Eagle project was the construction of an outdoor classroom at Chattahoochee. At Kennesaw, he plans to pursue a degree in international business.
