House Fire Possibly Caused By Fireworks

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported just after midnight Tuesday in Johns Creek.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The Johns Creek Fire Department is investigating a fire authorities believe may have been caused by fireworks, the city said Tuesday.

The fire was reported around 12:15 a.m. July 5 "after the family and their visitors evacuated the house and called 911," city of Johns Creek spokesperson Doug Nurse.

One of the visitors went outside and saw the fire and alerted the occupants inside.

The attic of the two-story home, located in the 4800 block of Morton Chase Drive, was heavily damaged by fire, smoke and water. The Fire Department responded with three fire engines and a ladder truck, and quickly extinguished the fire.

The investigation on the cause of the fire remains open.
