Johns Creek To Break Ground On Wall That Heals Installment

The recently retired Wall That Heals, a 250-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, will have a new permanent home in Johns Creek.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — The recently retired Wall That Heals, a 250-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, will have a new home with a permanent installation at Newtown Park, 3150 Old Alabama Road in Johns Creek, near the Veterans Memorial.

City leaders and dignitaries will be on hand at an upcoming groundbreaking event on Wednesday, July 3 at 5 p.m. to celebrate the replica’s future home. Guest speakers include Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker and Mike Mizell, Walkway Memorial Chairman.

The replica Wall is approximately 250 feet in length, and like the original memorial is erected in a chevron-shape. The replica is constructed of powder-coated aluminum, supported by an aluminum frame, and is made up of 24 individual panels, each containing six columns of names.

The recently retired Wall replica had been on the road for more than 10 years and visited more than 250 cities across America, a program run by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, the nonprofit organization which built The Wall in Washington, D.C.

The event and parking are free. Handicap parking is available.
