Johns Creek Citizens Fire Academy Starts In February

Participants will learn more about the department, investigative strategies and various aspects of fire prevention.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Johns Creek residents will be able to get an inside look at how their fire department operates when the agency rolls out its next Citizens Fire Academy.

The program starts Feb. 20, 2018, and during the course, participants will learn about Johns Creek Fire Department operations, fire tactics and strategies and various aspects of fire prevention and investigative techniques.

The academy meets for nine classes: Feb. 20, 27; March 10, 13, 20, 31; April 10, 21; and May 1, 2018. The classes include instruction (equipment, fire prevention); demonstrations (CPR, investigation techniques); and practical exercises (fire ground training, emergency medical exercises).

Tuesday classes run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and the Saturday classes are from 9 a.m. to noon. If you are interested, you can submit an online application or pick one up at fire department's headquarters at 10700 Abbotts Bridge Road Suite 190 in Johns Creek.
