Johns Creek Election 2019: Voting Hours, Polls, Sample Ballot

JOHNS CREEK, GA — Election Day is Tuesday in Johns Creek, and voters will cast their ballots in the 2019 municipal election.
The Johns Creek City Council election will take place Nov. 5. The election is for the council seats of Post 2, Post 4, and Post 6.
Municipal Elections are non-partisan and held in accordance with Title 2 of the Georgia Election Code. Candidates run at-large and are voted on by the registered voters; the candidate who receives the majority of votes cast wins their respective seat. Public officials have staggered four-year terms in Johns Creek, with elections every two years (Post 2, 4 and 6) and (Post 1, 3, 5 and mayor).

In 2018, the Johns Creek city charter was changed legislatively to reflect term limits for elected officials. Effective with the 2019 elections, neither the mayor nor council member shall serve for more than three consecutive terms, four-year terms of office and shall not include any partial terms of office. In addition, no terms of office served prior to January 1, 2020 and no terms of office served as council member shall be considered in determining if a person has served more than three consecutive terms of office.

When To Vote:
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 5. If you are 75 years of age or older or have a disability and you show up at the polling place between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., you will not be required to wait in line. Such voters should tell a poll officer if he or she wants to move to the front of the line.

Check where to vote by your address online. Fulton County designates and manages the precinct boundaries and polling locations. To find out what precinct you are in as a voter or where you will vote, contact the Fulton County Board of Elections at 404-730-7020.
As a reminder, the Ocee and Northeast/Spruill Oaks Libraries are closed for renovations and will not serve as active voting locations. Ensure you visit the My Voter Page for details on your polling location.
Acceptable Identification:
Georgia Voters are required to show one of six forms of valid photo identification when voting in person, during the absentee or advanced voting period or at the polls on Election Day. The valid forms of identification are as follows:
- A Georgia driver's license (even if expired)
- A valid State or federal government photo ID
- A valid U.S. passport
- A valid government employee photo ID (city, county, state or U.S. government)
- A valid U.S. military photo ID
- A valid Tribal photo ID
