John Stastny, a 2014 graduate of Johns Creek High School, is wasting no time contributing at the collegiate level.

On Feb. 28, in the US Coast Guard Academy’s first lacrosse game of the 2015 season, Stastny started as the Bears’ long stick middle. At 2:37 into the second quarter, Stastny on the turnover recovered the ground ball and made the up-field clear.

While the visiting Bears lost the away game 19 to 9 to their arch rival, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Midshipmen, the first game sets the tone for a rematch next year at home in New London, Connecticut.

The game was the first not only for the Bears’ 2015 season, it was also the first of Stastny’s collegiate career — and the first year the team played at the NCAA level.
