Johns Creek Officers Will Take 'Polar Plunge' For Special Olympics

Members of the Johns Creek Police Department will brave the frigid waters for the sixth annual Polar Plunge next month at Lake Lanier.

Officers with the Johns Creek Police Department will charge into the frigid waters of Lake Lanier as part of the Special Olympics Georgia’s 6th annual Polar Plunge.

This year’s chilly festivities will take place Saturday, Feb. 21 at Lake Lanier Islands Beach and Water Park.

All donations received go directly to Special Olympics Georgia. Residents can donate any pledge amount by visiting the JCPD donation page. Pledges from any participating Johns Creek group automatically are credited to the Johns Creek Police Department. Johns Creek Police and their friends raised almost $25,000 in the 2014 Polar Plunge.

To take the plunge yourself, register at the Special Olympics of Georgia website. Participants must raise $55 or more. Be sure to note on the application that you’re plunging on behalf of the Johns Creek Police Department.

This is the fourth year Johns Creek police have participated in the Polar Plunge, the largest fundraising effort for all Special Olympics organizations across the U.S.
