Johns Creek Police Schedule Active Shooter Response Classes

The first two dates are open to the public while the third course is reserved for teachers and staff members in Johns Creek schools.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — The Johns Creek Police Department has scheduled upcoming classes designed to help you effectively respond in the event of an active shooter situation. These Civilian Response To Active Shooter Events courses will provide strategies and tips to help you survive if you find yourself in the midst of these incidents.

The police department's CRASE instructors will be teaching the Avoid, Deny and Defend themes outlined in the course developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Responses Training at Texas State University (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. Class dates and times are scheduled for:

  • March 13 at 7 p.m.: Johns Creek United Methodist Church, 11180 Medlock Bridge Road
  • March 20 at 7 p.m.: Perimeter Church, 9500 Medlock Bridge Road
  • March 27 at 7 p.m.: Johns Creek High School, 5575 State Bridge Road (reserved for teachers and school staff working inside Johns Creek)

The first two dates are open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. Johns Creek police note the third date is open to teachers and staff working at schools within the city limits. That session will focus on active shooter events that occur within school buildings.
