Johns Creek Senior GIS Manager Named Finalist For Award

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Nick O'Day, Johns Creek's senior GIS manager, has been named a finalist for the Route Fifty Navigator Award.

O’Day is one of 50 finalists from across the U.S. The awards honor state and local governments who have demonstrated the ability to implement a great idea that improves public sector services and the communities they serve.

O’Day is a finalist in the Data and IT Innovators category and is recognized for creating JC Now, the city’s custom-built mobile application that gives residents the ability to view interactive maps of the city, peruse council meeting agendas, find local official contact information and more.

“It’s an honor to be named a finalist and to be included among a variety of IT innovators across the country,” said O’Day. “JC Now was a collaborative project involving many different people at the City and I know we are all very excited that something we built ‘in our garage’ has paid such big dividends to the community we serve.”

JC Now has already won two awards: first place at the Esri International User Conference in 2014 and first place in the Atlanta Regional Commission’s CREATE awards in 2015.
