Liz Hausmann To Run For Re-Election
Hausmann, a johns Creek resident, is seeking a third term as Fulton County's District 1 commissioner.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann has announced her candidacy to seek re-election to the District 1 seat. The seat represents the northeastern tip of the county, including Johns Creek and parts of Roswell, Alpharetta and Sandy Springs east of Ga. 400.
Hausmann, who was first elected in 2011, has worked to enhance local control and "ensure equitable distribution of efficient services throughout the county by embracing private sector solutions and eliminating duplication in Fulton’s workforce, all while reducing the overall tax burden of Fulton County Citizens by advocating for the lowest possible millage rate year after year," her campaign press release said.
Hausmann’s extensive knowledge of District 1 was developed through years of civic engagement, including service on the Fulton County School Board, Board of the Committee for Johns Creek (where she led efforts to create the new city) and later on the inaugural Johns Creek City Council following the city’s 2006 incorporation.

Hausmann has accomplished many initiatives since taking office, and has been instrumental in implementing judicial reform to improve operations through the county's Justice Reinvestment Project, recruiting County Manager Dick Anderson to establish a dynamic executive team and reorganize county operations under a private sector model focused on outcomes and impact.
In addition, she has supported local community service organizations by ensuring their continued support from Fulton County, outsourcing behavioral health services to reduce costs and improve mental health solutions, and modernizing Fulton libraries to create vibrant community centers.

In recent years, the incumbent has led efforts to remedy the biggest issues affecting her district, including enabling first responders to save lives from the ongoing opioid crisis by providing Naloxone to local emergency services, searching for transportation solutions that work for all North Fulton cities by actively engaging local elected officials and protecting her constituents from sharp increases in property taxes.
Beyond Fulton County, state leaders have taken note of Hausmann's passion for finding solutions and sought her service on multiple boards and commissions. Last summer, House Speaker David Ralston appointed her to the Georgia House Commission on Transit Governance and Funding. In January, Gov. Nathan Deal appointed her to the State Work Force Development Board. The National Association of Counties in 2017 named Hausmann to its Transportation Steering Committee.
"It has been an honor to represent District 1 and the broader North Fulton community," said Hausmann. "If re-elected, I will continue to address the concerns and desires of mycommunity with a conservative approach and by building strong relationships with our state and local partners.”
According to the county's website, Hausmann has also served as executive sponsor of economic development initiatives. Other past and recent service to the county include the Atlanta-Fulton Water Resources Commission, Georgia Criminal Justice and Coordinating Council, WellStar North Fulton Board of Advisors, Fulton Education Foundation Board of Directors, Federal Government Policy Committee for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia, Retirement Board of Fulton County Employees, Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Encore Park for the Arts Board of Directors and the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Community Resources Committee. She received the 2012 Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Pioneer Award and the 2012 RBC Friend of Business Award. She is a 2011 graduate of the Regional Leadership Institute.
A native of Georgia, Hausmann has lived in Johns Creek for more than 20 years. She has two adult children, two grandchildren and two-step grandchildren. She and her family attends Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church.
