New Details Released In Crash Involving Johns Creek Officer
A 22-year-old motorist is accused of striking a patrol vehicle, which rear ended the vehicle occupied by an officer and a DUI suspect.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- An incident report released by the Duluth Police Department has shed new light on an accident involving an officer with the Johns Creek Police Department.
The officer was in the process of making a DUI arrest during the waning hours of Saturday, May 21 when a passing motorist rear ended a patrol vehicle parked on the shoulder.
This collision caused that police car to strike a second marked Johns Creek police car, the vehicle in which the officer and first DUI suspect were occupying.

A Duluth police officer arrived on the scene to assess the collision, which occurred just inside the city limits along Pleasant Hill Road at Sweet Bottom Drive.
The driver of the passenger vehicle that struck the Johns Creek police car, Jarrett Quinn Mobley, 22, of Cumming, told police he thought he was in left lane of travel and that the patrol cars were further off to the right, according to the report.

Mobley also said he was "looking at his phone before the accident," the report notes.
The officer conducted a search of the vehicle, a white 2007 Hyundai Sonata, and allegedly discovered a small plastic bag containing marijuana. He also noted he smelled a strong odor of alcohol emitting from Mobley.
According to police, the motorist admitted to having two drinks before getting behind the wheel of the car.
A field sobriety test was given, and the officer subsequently placed Mobley under arrest for DUI, possession of marijuana and failure to maintain lane.
Jail records show Mobley was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail around 2 a.m. May 22 and has since posted bail.
