JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Next week, the Johns Creek Police Department will host a grand opening of its new Police K-9 training facility.
The event will be held at 2 p.m. May 9 at the Cauley Creek Water Reclamation Facility. The new building will be utilized for ongoing training for police K-9's. Attendees at the grand opening will be treated to demonstrations of how handlers will use the facility to train their four-legged partners.
The new training facility was built using money raised by a partnership with Leadership Johns Creek, a program that cultivate leaders and exposes participants to various aspects and sectors of the city.

All funds, including the labor to build the facility, came with no cost to the citizens of Johns Creek. Community members contributed nearly $2,000 to a GoFundMe page and local businesses matched those contributions ten-fold, for a grand total of over $22,000 raised, plus in-kind donations of materials.
More than 50 community members, police officers, and firefighters donated their time and talents on Community Build Days held in March and April to construct training obstacles including area search boxes, modular boxes, low crawl boxes, and the ladder climb/elevated walk.
