JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Northview High School will hold an awards ceremony next week to honor two teams of local students named regional winners of the 24th annual Toshiba/National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) ExploraVision program, the world’s largest K-12 science competition.

Since its inception in 1992, more than 360,000 students from across the United States and Canada have participated in the program, which is the world's largest K-12 science competition.
The awards ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. March 16 at the school, and will honor a third-grade team from Shakerag Elementary School and a 10th grade team from Northview High School.

These local students were two of 24 regional winning teams. Third-grade team members are Saanvi Shetty, Sruthi Vangavolu and Gauri Shetty. Tenth-grade winners were Northview students Annie Chen, Helena Liao and Rupkatha Banerjee.
The project for the third-grade students involved creating a balloon filter to prevent harmful chemicals or pollution doing into the lungs or harming living organisms.
For the Northview students, the scenario for its project included developing a cardiac nanocomposite hydrogel film that would reduce the prevalence of organ rejection stemming from a cardiac transplant.
Northview High School is located at 10625 Parsons Road in Johns Creek.
